To
the best of my recollection, this photo was taken in the foyer of
the Deke house at a
racing themed (overstatement of the obvious) “house
dance,” most likely in the fall of
’62, wrote Denny Krutz
’65, pictured at right.. Perhaps brother Ken McCoy
’64, owner of
the 50’s MG, could help fill in some additional details.
As we think about this, the dance, as was tradition, was put
on by the incoming freshmen in the class of ’66. Those dances, we
believe, were the only ones where photos with dates were taken and
given as a favor. All attending brothers posed for a
shot in the car. This particular one endured, as it was used in
one of our Psi Phi prospective pledge booklets. The photo also was
inspiration for the movie “Grand Prix,” starring James
Garner, in 1966. |
