Delta
Psi Executive Board Leadership Retreat
August
25 - 26, 2004
Bradford
Woods, Martinsville, Indiana
In
2003, after growing steadily as a brotherhood and a chapter
for three years, the student leaders of the Delta Psi
chapter of Delta Kappa Epsilon realized the need for a
traditional fraternity house to continue the chapter’s
success and competitiveness.
Chapter
president Cullen Harkness ’04 and Past President Nathan
Hartman ’02 were the primary forces behind the effort that
saw the Delta Psi brothers move together into the chapter
house at 815 N. Jordan Avenue and share a common residence for the first time.

The
day started with several
“warm-up”
activities including this, designed to teach a group
to communicate as one.

2004
Chapter President Brendan McPherson ’05, who led the group
through the sometimes
difficult adjustment of living under one roof at the opening
of the 2004 - 05 school
year, kicked off
the year by hosting an Executive Board leadership retreat at
I.U.’s Bradford Woods Ropes Course.
The eight-man board spent two days, led by a trained
facilitator, participating in exercises aimed at teaching
leadership, communication, trust, and teamwork.
The
Ruby Cup Foundation (RCF) underwrote the costs of the
retreat. Managed
by a board of Deke alumni, the RCF is a charitable
foundation whose mission is to improve the student and
alumni experiences of the Delta Psi, Delta Pi (University of
Illinois) and Psi Phi (DePauw University) chapters of Delta
Kappa Epsilon.
Attending
the retreat were President Brendan McPherson, Vice President
Kevin Cane, VP for Membership
Adam Hist, VP for Social Drew Eggers, Treasurer Scott
Shtofman, Secretary Bill Henry, Pledgemaster Peter Nestingen,
and House Manager Jared Palay.
