The Ruby Cup Foundation (RCF) has been Psi Phi’s 501(c)(3) charitable foundation since 1992— providing alumni with a tax deduction on gifts to Deke. The fund exceeds $60,000, and five percent of its annual interest income is spent furthering its mission of improving the chapter experience.
In 2003, the bylaws expanded to allow Dekes from any chapter to join the board and to allow the RCF to aid any chapter, not just Psi Phi. The expansion was necessary because Psi Phi had alumni but had had no chapter since 1996, and particularly because the four-year-old Delta Psi chapter at Indiana University needed alumni involvement, but had just one alumnus.
By joining together, both chapters benefit in the near- and long-term. With the involvement of alumni from Delta Pi-Illinois this cooperative benefits all three chapters.
